A mother of a 14 year old was grumbling about her son who doesn’t want to accompany her to relatives houses even for functions and dinners; I asked her whether she had taken him as a child and been in touch with the relatives from the time he had been small. She was reluctant to answer me and I knew the answer then!
In the days before our ‘ busy time schedule’ period, mothers and gran
parents took the child out for walking to the temple or for house visits and introduced the child to the social circle around and the child grew up in the ‘ security’ of the society around.
Today parents don’t have the time to take the children to their own gran parents places and children find comfort in devices like TV n I pads and hence do not even understand the need for social interaction.
Pl take the trouble of organizing get to gathers with close ones, both from the family and friends and make sure the children feel comfortable in meeting people of all age groups n grow up in the normal, comfortable manner.
At Playcoop we organize functions and birthday parties to celebrate the occasion with family and friends, for the same reason.
